Half Marathon Course
Welcome to your new favorite half marathon. Start on Sumner with the Pacific Ocean at your back before heading up into the East End of the island via Renton Mine Road. The first 7k (or about 4 miles for those imperially inclined individuals) of the run are uphill - you'll know you're about to level out when you meet the Lions at Aid Station Number 3 for whatever refreshing beverage they have waiting on race day. The course rolls over the east summit for a couple of miles before descending into prickly pear-lined trail overlooking the deep-end of the Pacific. Cruise through fox country past Hermit Gulch Campground before you turn around and head back towards the Divide and Memorial Road intersection. Stick to your left, bomb down into the Memorial Gardens and send it down Sumner where you'll finish at the Wrigley Fountain.

10k Course
If you're looking to get into trail running but have yet to get your shoes dirty, this is the run you've been looking for. Start out with an easy warmup along the beach out around the casino and back before you take on some minor elevation on pavement. Take in some sweet views of Avalon in Mile 2, then head up into Avalon Canyon where the real run begins. Hang a left at the aid station and hit the Hour Trail (aptly named because it takes a slow moving horse exactly one hour to complete - or so they tell us). On the Hour Trail, you'll cruise over soft dirt through rolling hills lined with mustard plants and wild flowers. You might see a fox, deer or a pretty bird. Before you know it, you'll be at the finish line wondering when you'll sign up for your next trail run.
